Assassination plot on Modi is a drama, says Vaghela
Thursday, June 17 2004 17:02 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Union Textiles Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela today (Jun 17, 2004) dismissed as a "drama" the encounter in which four alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists, suspected to have plotted assassination of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, were gunned down in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (Jun 15, 2004).

"It is all a drama. The Government of Gujarat is trying to draw the attention of the people from X to Y," Vaghela, a senior Gujarat Congress leader, told reporters.

The alleged terrorists, including a woman, were gunned down by Crime branch sleuths at Kotarpur near Ahmedabad airport after an armed scuffle.
