7 injured as Samaleswari Express derails in Orissa Saturday, June 19 2004 14:17 Hrs (IST)

The engine and three bogies of the 8006 UP Koraput-Howarh Samaleswari Express got derailed between Bhalumaska and Liliguma stations under Waltair division of Rayagada district in Orissa today (June 19, 2004), official sources said.
Seven persons suffered minor injuries in the mishap as the engine and three bogies went off the track. The bogies included a three-tier AC compartment and two general compartments.
The derailment took place at 07:45 hours when the train was passing slowly in a hilly terrain.
Divisional railway manager, Waltair division, rushed to the accident spot as also a relief train from Koraput with a medical van.
Traffic on the single line route having scores of tunnels dug through hills had been suspended following the derailment, the sources said.
The Koraput-Visakhapatnam DMU was cancelled while the corresponding train was terminated at Rayagada and would leave from there for Visakhapatnam, the sources said.
The Bhubaneswar-Koraput Hirakhand express had been detained at Jaykaypur.
