New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) tonight (June 19, 2004) said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statement that the Gujarat issue is a thing of the past is "final".

"What he (Vajpayee) said today is final," RSS joint general secretary In-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Madan Das Devi told reporters here emerging from an hour-long one-to-one meeting with Vajpayee.

The meeting was preceded by a 90-minute talk between Vajpayee and senior party leaders L K Advani and Jaswant Singh.
