EC orders holding back of RS poll results in UP
Monday, June 21 2004 15:04 Hrs (IST)

Lucknow: The Election Commission is understood to have asked the Returning Officer of the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh not to declare the results in the wake of complaints from Congress that nomination papers of two of its candidates were rejected "unconstitutionally".

The directive to the RO comes after a Congress delegation from UP met the Commission and complained to it about the rejection of the nominations of the two party nominees.

The Commission is expected to meet in the evening and take a decision.
