ULFA explodes bomb in Assam telephone exchange

Dibrugarh: Suspected ULFA (United Liberation Force of Assam) militants damaged a telephone exchange by exploding bomb in Upper Assam's Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district today (June 21, 2004). District superintendent of police Pradip Haloi told that the ultras detonated the improvised explosive devise (IED) on the verandah of Tengakhat telephone exchange, about 16 km from Dibrugarh.

The explosion damaged a part of the exchange building but caused no disruption to the telephone services, Saloi said.

Senior police officials rushed to the site and investigations were on, he added.
