Day 2: BJP blames homework; seeks to be pro-poor Wednesday, June 23 2004 11:45 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai:
The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) national executive today proposed a political resolution to rededicate the party to its idealism and redouble its commitment to developmental issues, specially for farmers and rural and urban poor.
The party in its political resolution has undertaken overcoming organisational shortcomings, which cost it dear in States like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls.
The resolution exhorted the party cadre to vigorously expose contradictions within the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government.
The resolution expressed confidence in the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and senior party leader L K Advani and said the party has grown under the statesmanship of Vajpayee.
The party also thanked Advani for taking a gruelling rath yatra to improve party's prospect in the election.
However, the party said its pre-election assessment was not good and it did not properly reflect the mood of the electorate.
