TRS joins Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh Wednesday, June 23 2004 19:01 Hrs (IST)

Heralding the first coalition Government in Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), a pre-poll ally of Congress, today (June 23, 2004) joined the ministry head by Y S Rajaskara Reddy.
Six TRS representatives, including its floor leader in the Assembly G Vijayarama Rao and the party's founder president K Chandrasekhar Rao's nephew Harish Rao, were inducted into the Cabinet taking the strength of the Congress-TRS coalition Cabinet to 31.
The new minister, all cabinet rank, were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the Governor Surjit Singh Barnala at a brief ceremony at Raj Bhavan this evening.
Former TDP (Telugu Desam Party) minister A Chandrasekhar, who had switched over to the sub-regional party on the eve of elections, former
Congress Minister S Santosh Reddy, Capt V Lakshmi Kanta Rao and city legislator N Narsimha Reddy were sworn-in as ministers.
Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy, his cabinet colleagues, TRS president and Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and his colleague A Narendra were among those present on the occasion.
The TRS, making an electoral debut, had won 26 assembly and five Lok Sabha seats in the recent elections in alliance with Congress.
