Modi meets Vajpayee, briefs him on Guj party affairs
Thursday, June 24 2004 12:02 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: In the wake of criticism by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that Gujarat violence led to BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) poll debacle, State Chief Minister Narendra Modi met the top BJP leader in Mumbai today (Jun 24, 2004).

"Modi met Vajpayee for 20 minutes and briefed him about the state of affairs of the State party unit," BJP sources said.

The two leaders met at the hotel where the BJP National Executive meeting is being held.

The meeting assumes significance in the wake of Vajpayee's criticism following which the BJP Parliamentary Board met in New Delhi and ruled out Modi's removal for the time being.
