Vajpayee's exit to have 'adverse impact' on NDA: JD-U
Thursday, June 24 2004 09:33 Hrs (IST)

Patna: JD-U (Janata Dal-United), a key partner in the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), tonight (Jun 23, 2004) said that if the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided to retire, it would have an "adverse effect" on the coalition.

"No leader in BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) or NDA is as towering as Vajpayee. If he is not there to lead it, certainly there will be an adverse effect on the alliance," senior JD(U) leader and MP Prabhunath Singh said.

Upset over the attacks on him from within the Sangh Parivar after the poll debacle, Vajpayee tonight said in Mumbai that he has "had enough" and indicated that he will not be leading the party any more.
