Delhi Police to grill man who sent pistol to Kalam Monday, June 28 2004 12:32 Hrs (IST)

The man who had allegedly sent a pistol and a cartridge to President A P J Abdul Kalam last week in a parcel was brought to New Delhi today (Jun 28, 2004) from Patna for interrogation.
Mahesh Sav, six days after his arrest from Patna, will be interrogated by Delhi Police about his intentions, though he has claimed that he had reportedly sent the weapon developed by him as a "sample" to Kalam since it was of a "different kind".
He will be produced in a court to enable Delhi police take his custody, police sources said.
An alarm was caused in the security establishment on June 22 after the parcel containing the pistol and cartridge addressed to Kalam was received at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The pistol and cartridge were detected during the X-ray scanning of the packet which carried the sender's name and address as "Mahesh Sav, Village Mujahidpur, PO Box Pirsawa, Patna" written in Hindi.
