'Ram temple issue will be taken to its logical end' Monday, June 28 2004 21:46 Hrs (IST)
Kolkata:
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today ruled out solution of the Ayodhya dispute through dialogue, and said that the VHP would build up a vigorous campaign to take the agitation for building a Ram temple to its 'logical end' from its three-day central executive meeting.
"In the last 450 years, dialogue has not produced any result. Islamic jehadis do not believe in dialogue. Judiciary has not given any verdict in 50 years. Left Parties can wait for 50 years, we can't. We will build up the temple and pursue our agitation to a logical end," International General Secretary of the VHP Praveen Togadia told reporters in Kolkata.
He made the comments when asked to explain VHP's stand on the UPA's (United Progressive Alliance) Common Minimum Programme document on Ayodhya which said it would await the court verdict, but at the same time encourage negotiation between the parties to the dispute for an amicable settlement which "must, in turn, receive legal sanctions".
Commencing in Kolkata from June 30, the central executive committee meeting of the VHP, which is the first after Lok Sabha elections, would discuss the organisation's future strategy.
''We will chalk out a road map for the next six months which aims at establishing Hindu polity in the country and to imbibe the Hindu agenda among people in one lakh villages to counter Islamic jehadis,'' he said.
Besides Togadia, other top VHP leaders, including Ashok Singhal and Giriraj Kishore, have already arrived here to take part in the core committee meeting which would decide the agenda of the central executive meeting, he said.
