Islamabad: PML-Q (Pakistan Muslim League-Qaid-e-Azam) nominee Shujaat Hussain will be Pakistan's next Prime Minister following his election today by the National Assembly, defeating his lone Opposition rival, Mukhdhum Amin Fahim.

Hussain obtained 190 votes against Fahim's 76 votes in the 342-member House, Speaker of the House Amir Hussain said after division of votes.

Hussain was expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister by President Pervez Musharraf shortly. He succeeds Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who has resigned a few days ago following differences with Musharraf.
