VHP plans political platform to pursue Hindutva Tuesday, June 29 2004 17:24 Hrs (IST)
Kolkata:
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (June 29, 2004) squarely blamed the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) for giving up the Hindutva agenda, which led to the NDA's (National Democratic Alliance) recent election debacle and said that it was contemplating establishing a Hindu political manch (organisation).
Announcing this in Kolkata today (June 29, 2004) the VHP working president Ashok Singhal told that the proposed political platform would work "aggressively for taking up the cause of Hindu Samaj, including fulfilling the long-standing demand of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya".
Singhal, who was speaking after the meeting of the Core Committee before the National Executive meeting of VHP, said, "a Hindu political manch is necessary to effectively pursue the Hindu agenda and take on the challenges by the forces who are opposed to our ideology".
He further said that the BJP-led NDA regime did not do anything so serve the cause of Hindu society.
"Due to the Government policies, which were not helpful to the aspirations of Hindu community lakhs of cadres of Sangh Parivar remained inactive during the campaigning in recent Lok Sabha polls due to which the NDA lost," he said.
"They (NDA) received a kick", Singhal said referring to the election debacle of the BJP-led alliance.
He remained non-committal about the timing for the launch of VHP's political platform but said, "it is going to happen".
