'India should stop policy of peace overtures with Pak' Tuesday, June 29 2004 21:47 Hrs (IST)
Kolkata:
Rejecting the Indo-Pak dialogue process, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (June 29, 2004) demanded that India should stop the policy of peace overtures to Pakistan and instead New Delhi must immediately take action-forcing Islamabad to stop "encouraging the terrorists and "dismantle" training camps operating in their land.
"The policy of peace overtures to Pakistan and Bangladesh would not help India. New Delhi must take immediate steps so that the camps being run by the Jehadis in Pakistan were dismantled. Pakistan is encouraging the terrorist groups which are active in Jammu and Kashmir and was major threat to the country's security", VHP leader Ashok Singhal told.
Singhal, who was briefing newsmen after a two-day core committee meeting of VHP prior to its Central Executive meeting, was reacting the latest round of Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary level talks which concluded in New Delhi on Monday.
Singhal urged all political parties to come forward to ensure security of the country, which was endangered by the constant threats of the "Islamic Jehadis".
The VHP President said that the previous BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government also pursued the "wrong policies" in trying to carry the peace process with Pakistan forward.
The VHP national executive meeting, beginning tomorrow, would take up future strategy including the campaign for construction of Ram Temple and the menace of terrorism and carry forward the Hinduvta agenda.
