Advani sees the need to revive 'cadres' and voters Wednesday, June 30 2004 15:31 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Leader of Opposition L K Advani today (Jun 30, 2004) said that there was need to "revive" its three main constituencies of cadre, Sangh Parivar and the committed voters, which it had not nursed during the six years in office at the head of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government.
"Our party ran the Government well but didn't nurse its constituency comprising of the cadres and workers, Sangh Parivar and the voters constituency that the party had built up over the last 25 to 30 years. Now there is need to revive it," he told reporters at the party headquarters which he proposes to visit frequently as requested by party president M Venkaiah Naidu.
"I had said that a Member of Parliament even if he does the best of work in Parliament but doesn't move in his constituency and in the party, it would go against him and that was why 50 per cent of our sitting members lost in the elections," he said.
On his visit to the party office, he said, "My coming here would increase and as requested by party president I would be visiting frequently to help in organisational matters."
He said even while in Government, Naidu used to consult him regularly regarding party matters and now that "I am out of Government, I would be visiting the party office more often."
