SP ministers in UP resign to facilitate downsizing

Lucknow: All the 83 Samajwadi Party (SP) ministers in the Mulayam Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh resigned today (Jun 30, 2004) to give him a free hand to downsize the Government.

Sources in the Government said that the ministers have already handed over their resignations to trim the Government in accordance with the Constitutional amendment that has fixed the size of the cabinet to 15 per cent of the State Legislature.

Seven RLD ministers have already given their resignations to their leader Ajit Singh.
