A Stockholm-based Indian doctor has topped a prestigious European medical exam, setting a record in its ten-year history.
Dr Manoj Kakar, a medical graduate from Bombay University topped the European Board of Ophthalmology exams given in Paris in May 2004.
He scored the best result in the last ten years since the exam has been in existence, Indian embassy sources in Stockholm said.
After graduating from Bombay University, where he finished his Diploma and MS in Ophthalmology, Dr Kakar is currently working for his PhD at the world-famous Karolinska Institute of Sweden, where part of his duties include teaching medical as well as optometry for students.
He is researching in the field of cataractogenesis and his laboratory is located at the prestigious St Erik's Eye Hospital, the largest such unit in Scandinavia.
