Islamabad: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain today (Jun 30, 2004) took the oath of office as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan after he was voted in by lawmakers as a part of the power transition.

Hussain is expected to stay as Prime Minister only for a matter of weeks. Ruling party officials say Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz is to assume the Prime Minister's spot once expected political maneuvering is completed.
