Paes-Navratilova crash out of mixed doubles Saturday, July 3 2004 14:26 Hrs (IST)
London:
Defending champions Martina Navratilova and Leander Paes crashed out in the third round of mixed doubles in the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
The ninth seed USA-India pair lost to sixth seed Cara Black and Wayne Black of Zimbabwe in a marathon match 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (7/5), 11-13 that finally finished yesterday after spanning three days because of rain.
The match was first postponed on June 30 and again on July 1 with the final four games played yesterday (July 2).
Last year, the 47-year-old Navratilova equalled Billie Jean King's record of 20 Wimbledon titles when she and Paes won the title.
