Amitabh Bachchan rules out returning to politics Monday, July 5 2004 17:02 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan today (July 5, 2004) firmly ruled out re-entering politics.
"No, I will not join politics," Bachchan, who was elected from Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency in 1985, told when asked whether he would follow his wife Jaya Bachchan who today took oath as a Rajya Sabha member.
Long used to getting mobbed, the scene was no different this time inside the hallowed high security Parliament House for Big B.
Bachchan, who witnessed Jaya taking oath, soon found himself surrounded by admirers in the corridor seeking his autograph.
They included Parliament security, staff as also visitors. At one point, the security staff had to ask people to disperse as the Super B was confronted with the task of obliging several with his autograph.
Earlier, Bachchan, who took his appointed seat along with his film-star son Abhishek Bachchan, at the visitors' gallery was eagerly escorted by a watch and ward staff to front rows.
But finding the seats already occupied, Bachchan and his family members settled for a back row.
