7 children die due to 'poisonous prasad' in Bihar

Hajipur (Bihar): Seven children died and over 50 others fell sick after consuming poisonous 'prasad' in four different villages under Raghopur sub-division of Bihar's Vaishali district last night (Jul 5, 2004), official said.

District Magistrate H R Srinivas said that children complained of nausea and vomiting after they ate prasad served on the occasion of Gurupurnima.

Over 50 others took ill were being treated at different hospitals at Hajipur and Raghopur.

The victims belong to Birangabad, Begiahganj, Malipur and Chandipur villages, he said.
