Sonia never said anything about Telangana: Reddy Monday, July 5 2004 12:23 Hrs (IST)
Vijayawada:
Asserting that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had not committed anything on separate Telangana State any time, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today (July 5, 2004) said the party sticks to its demand for second States Reorganisation Commission on the issue.
"Gandhi had never committed anything on the issue. We always believed in our demand for second States Reorganisation Commission to decide on it," Reddy, who is in Vijayawada on a two-day tour to Krishna district as part of his 'Rajeev Palla Bata' programme, told newspersons at Krishna barrage where he reviewed the Rs 13.80 crore worth works being undertaken.
When asked about Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader's statement that Telangana would be formed within six months, Reddy said, "It could be possible only when the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) members at the Centre agree for the same."
Asked if there would be a demand for Rayalaseema State, Reddy simply smiled and said he did not want to say anything on hypothetical questions.
