SIT officials destroyed chargesheet: Scam accused

Mumbai: In a new twist to the multi-crore fake stamp paper probe, a jailed cop today filed a private complaint in a special court alleging that four top SIT officials had destroyed the chargesheet filed by him in order to help prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi get acquittal in a murder case related to scam.

The designated Judge A P Bhangale hearing the complaint ordered Commissioner of Police A N Roy and State DGP S M Shengari to appoint a senior officer to probe the matter and file the report on August 31.

Suspended API Dilip Kamath currently remanded to judicial custody for allegedly helping the Telgi syndicate, filed a complaint through his lawyer.

He alleged that chargesheet filed by him in the case of murder of Telgi's driver Christopher had been destroyed with a view to help the acquittal of the scam kingpin.

Kamath alleged that four top SIT officials -- S S Puri, Subodh Jaiswal, A K Agarwal and C H Wakhade - were responsible for destroying the chargesheet.

Telgi is accused of murder of his driver who reportedly was aware of the scam operations.
