Bal Thackeray plays the 'free power' card to farmers Sunday, July 11 2004 14:48 Hrs (IST)
Aurangabad:
Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today (July 11,2004) announced waiving of loans and free electricity for the farmers if the saffron alliance comes to power in Maharashtra in the forthcoming Assembly polls.
Speaking to reporters, Thackeray, who was at Aurangabad to attend the two-day conclave of Sena to chalk out party's strategy for the polls, claimed that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)-Shiv Sena would form the next Government in the State.
Warning party-officials that corruption would not be tolerated at any level, he said that when the party comes to power, even the Chief Minister would not be spared if found to be involved in corruption.
He said Sena's slogan for the election would be "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Kamgar" and added that since the number of workers has increased substantially, their welfare also
needed to be taken care of.
Thackeray is scheduled to address the concluding session of the conclave later in the day.
To a query if any member of the Thackeray family would become the Chief Minister if the party comes to power, the Sena supremo just said, "It is a secret."
