Vice Admiral Prasad to be new Vice Chief of Naval Staff

New Delhi: Vice Admiral Yashwant Prasad, Chief of Personnel at the Naval Headquarters, was today (July 12, 2004) appointed as the new Vice Chief of Naval Staff.

Prasad, who saw action in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, will take over from Vice Admiral Arun Prakash, who has been named as the new Naval Chief.

Prasad, who has commanded four of the frontline Naval warships including missile destroyer Ranvir and Aircraft carrier Viraat, will take over on July 31.

On the same day, Vice Admiral Prakash will take over as the next Chief of the Naval Staff in the Rank of Admiral.
