No more missing train woes, refund for unused tickets

New Delhi: As announced by Railway Minister Laloo Prasad, the Railways have begun giving refund for unused train tickets under the Coaching Refund Scheme.

Under this Scheme, refund is admissible on unused reserved and Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) tickets upto five days after the scheduled departure of the train from its originating station, an official release said today (Jul 12, 2004).

Under the normal rules, the refund on unused reserved tickets is admissible only upto a maximum of 12 hours after departure of the train.

The Coaching Refund Scheme has been started to facilitate refund of tickets directly from the computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) terminals beyond the limit of 12 hours and upto a maximum of five days after the departure of the train, it added.
