SC extends stay on POTA trial of MDMK head Vaiko Friday, July 16 2004 13:55 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
The Supreme Court today (July 16,2004) extended its stay on the POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) trial against MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham) leader Vaiko and eight others in view of the Central POTA Review Committee giving them a clean chit.
The petition filed by Vaiko and others had stated that despite the committee coming to a conclusion that Tamil Nadu Government could not have invoked POTA against them, the State has not yet withdrawn the case from the trial court.
