Cong-Left alliance is 'very dangerous': Vajpayee Saturday, July 17 2004 14:05 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Jul 17, 2004) termed the Congress-Left alliance at the Centre as "very dangerous" and charged it with working against national interests.
"This alliance of parties headed by Congress and Left is working for their narrow vested interests and deeply hurting national interests", he said addressing a daylong refresher course for BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MPs in New Delhi, according to BJP parliamentary party spokesman V K Malhotra.
Malhotra told reporters that Vajpayee exhorted BJP members in both Houses of Parliament to "effectively play" the role of a constructive Opposition keeping national interests above everything else.
Asserting that the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government led by him had always worked in national interests, he said the ruling coalition was setting "dangerous precedents" by pursuing their narrow ideological interests.
"We should be fully prepared to counter the Government. The MPs should study the issues and keep themselves updated to effectively put across their views", Malhotra said quoting Vajpayee.
