Govt wants to protect Muslims by POTA repeal: Togadia Monday, July 19 2004 10:51 Hrs (IST)
Jodhpur:
Flaying the Andhra Pradesh Government decision to give reservations to Muslims in education and jobs, VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leader Praveen Togadia today (July 19, 2004) said the move "may lead to creation of another Pakistan".
He also announced plans to re-launch his controversial 'trishul deekhsa' (distribution of tridents) programme. "Quota for Muslims is unjustified and the move may lead to creation of another Pakistan," Togadia told reporters in Jodhpur today.
Attacking the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government for its move to scrap POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act), the fire brand VHP leader alleged, "By repealing it, the Government wanted to protect Muslims involved in anti-national and terrorist activities."
Togadia said the VHP would launch a movement after Diwali against "appeasement of Muslims". The VHP also plans to re-launch the 'trishul deeksha', banned during the previous Congress rule in Rajasthan.
On the Ayodhya issue, he said, "Ram temple would be constructed braving all odds. It will come up certainly and there is no doubt about it."
