Full justice would be done in sharing of waters: PM
Tuesday, July 20 2004 09:12 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Jul 19, 2004) said that the Centre would ensure evenhanded treatment to all States and full justice would be done in the matter of sharing of waters.

This was stated by the Prime Minister when a delegation of MLAs and MPs from Haryana called on him in New Delhi.

Singh told them that these matters had a bearing on the federal structure of the Constitution and the Centre would ensure that its constitutional responsibilities were effectively and fully discharged, an official release said.

The delegation met the Prime Minister in the light of enactment of a law by Punjab Government terminating its water sharing agreements with its neighbouring States Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
