Beware of the 'dogs' Mr Chidambaram: Shiv Sena Wednesday, July 21 2004 09:06 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
A Shiv Sena member today (Jul 20, 2004) advised Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the Lok Sabha referring to the Left parties, to beware of the "dogs" who were ready to bite him, an apparent reference to Left parties providing crucial outside support to the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government.
"Normally, people keep dogs so that they bark on outsiders and protect you. But in this case, the dogs are ready to bite the owner himself," the member, Prakash Paranjape, said during discussion on the General Budget.
He said, "You should be careful of such dogs."
It may be recalled that CPM (Communist Party Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury in an interview had said the left was "a watchdog and not a lapdog" of the UPA Government and it could bite very forcefully if people's interest were not taken into account.
