Railways to check illicit travel, fake reservations Wednesday, July 21 2004 14:14 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
The Railways have launched a drive to check unauthorised travel in reserved compartments of trains and take steps to stop fake reservations.
"The ticket checking staff in association with the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police will prevent entry of unauthorised passengers in reserved
compartments," an official release told in New Delhi today (July 21,2004).
"Passengers travelling without reservation in the reserved coaches would be apprehended and dealt with as per the provisions of law," it said.
On blocking of reservations in fictitious names and selling tickets on premium, the Railways said checks were being conducted in the premises of travel agents and ticket
agencies to stop irregularities, if any.
"Checks are also conducted in the Railway premises and also in trains to check the cases of passengers travelling on transferred names," the release said.
Action would also be taken against the Railway staff found conniving with ticketing agencies and agents indulging in the practise, it said.
