Karnataka to release water to AP tomorrow

New Delhi: Karnataka today (July 23, 2004) assured the Centre that it will release Krishna waters from Almatti Dam to Andhra Pradesh tomorrow.

Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh gave this assurance when Union Water Resources Minister Priyaranjan Das Munshi spoke to him on the instructions of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

An all party delegation from Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy called on Prime Minister yesterday and urged him to impress upon Karnataka to urgently release 50 tmc ft of Krishna waters from Almatti reservoir to mitigate the hardship of people of the State.
