Veteran comedian Mehmood passes away in US Friday, July 23 2004 22:37 Hrs (IST)

Veteran Bollywood comedian Mehmood Ali passed away this morning (July 23, 2004) at Pennsylvania in US, according to his family sources in Mumbai. He was 77.
Mehmood's body will be brought to Mumbai, his brother Usman Ali told in Mumbai today.
He died in his sleep, Usman Ali said.
Mehmood was born in 1932 in Mumbai had acted in over 300 films including Padosan, and directed few films.
The last film directed by him was 'Dushman Duniyaki.'
He is survived by wife, two daughters and six sons.
"Mehmood had undergone a bypass surgery several years ago. He also had been admitted to a hospital in Bangalore when suffered from some breathing problem," family sources said.
"He had gone to the United States for medical treatment and wanted to live in peace and in solitude for sometime", the sources said adding "Mehmood had called us yesterday and
complained that he was unwell."
"The exact date and time of the funeral is yet to be finalised. His body will be flown to India. He will probably be buried in Bangalore. However, nothing still is finalised", the sources said.
"His last wish was to be buried next to his father in Bangalore."
Mehmood's notable films include, `Kunwara Baap', `Sabse Bada Rupaiya', `Humjoli', `Bombay to Goa', `Bhoot Bangla', `Jinny and Johnny' and `Padosan'.
