Protestors storm police station, free two detainees

Palakkad: A group of DYFI and SFI activists today (Jul 25, 2004) stormed the police station at Valayar in Palakkad district of Kerala and freed two of their colleagues taken into custody in connection with the protest triggered by the suicide of engineering student Rajani S Anand, police said.

About 20 people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

A 40-member slogan shouting group barged into the police station and released the two, detained in the station after being taken into preventive custody last night (Jul 24, 2004), police said.

The two freed youths escaped from the police station premises.

The mob also ransacked the police station, police said.
