Five ultras killed, BJP leader wounded in JK Tuesday, July 27 2004 22:08 Hrs (IST)

Five militants, two of them hailing from Afghanistan, were among seven people killed and a BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader was wounded in separate incidents since last evening (July 26, 2004) in Jammu and Kashmir where security forces smashed two
ultra hideouts.
Local BJP leader Hukum Chand and his two personal security guards were wounded in an explosion near the Dak bungalow in Doda district's Kishtwar town, an official spokesman said.
Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Phagla area in Poonch district, he said.
The slain militants belonged to Afghanistan. Two AK rifles with their six magazines and five grenades were recovered from the scene.
A Jammu and Kashmir Police ambush party eliminated a Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Kulgam area in Anantnag district, the spokesman said.
A pistol and a grenade were recovered from the slain militant identified as Sabzar Ahmad Wagay.
A Lashkar-e-Toiba militant identified as Faisal alias Abu Abrar, a resident of Pakistan, was killed in a gunbattle with security forces at Khor in Baramulla district.
A militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Kantpora forests in Kupwara district.
Ultras abducted and shot dead one Abdul Rashi in Udhampur district while police picked up a bullet-riddled body in Sopore.
