Anju Bobby George jumps down to fifth at Stockholm

New Delhi: Ace long jumper Anju Bobby George was nowhere near her best and finished fifth in the DN Galan Super Grand Prix at Stockholm tonight (July 27, 2004).

The 27-year-old managed a best jump of only 6.60 metres and finished outside the medals bracket, according to information received in New Delhi.

The gold went to Kluft Carolina of Sweden with a jump of 6.85 metres while Upshaw Grace of USA (6.71m) and Thompson Bronwyn of Australia (6.63) took the silver and bronze respectively.

Anju, India's best medal hope at the forthcoming Athens Olympics, has had an happy outing ever since she has started her run up for the Games winning the gold in Doha, Qatar and then finished third in the Eugene Prefontaine Classic in USA and also bagged the silver medal in Madrid a forthnight ago.
