Samsung launches prelims for World Cyber Games 2004 Wednesday, July 28 2004 14:43 Hrs (IST)

Samsung India Electronics Ltd today (Jul 28, 2004) launched the India preliminary for the World Cyber Games 2004, an event to promote computer gaming internationally.
The preliminary to be held across 12 cities in the next five weeks will decide the winners for the finals to be held at San Francisco in October, Samsung India Vice President (Marketing) Vivek Prakash told reporters in Bangalore.
He said PC gaming today is a very evolved sport, which fosters "team work", healthy competitiveness between teams and individuals with emphasis on strong planning and analytical skills.
The preliminaries will be held at PC gaming zones set up at Sify Iway centres and will have five games-Warcraft, Counter Strike, Need for speed underground, unreal tournament 2004 and FIFA football 2004.
Besides Samsung, multi-platform gaming company Indiagames, Sify I-way and chipmaker AMD are partners for the World Cyber games.
