Friday, July 30 2004 17:50 Hrs (IST)

Kochi: At least 1,200 participants from over 45 countries are expected to participate in the two-day Global Malayalee Council (GMC), being organised in Kochi from August 7.

As part of the conference, two seminars -- 'Development of Kerala through the co- operation of Non Resident and Resident Keralites' and 'Role of the media in utilising the globalisation in favour of the development of Kerala'—would be held on August 8, the organisers said.

The GMC, established in 1999, aims to help Kerala leapfrog into the group of advanced regions in the world.
