Sibu Soren surrenders; court rejects bail petition

Jamtara (Jharkhand): The bail application of JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) chief Sibu Soren who today (August 2, 2004) surrendered before the District and Sessions fast track court in Jamtara on the orders of the Jharkhand High Court was rejected.

The bail petition, moved by Soren's lawyers in the court of Uday Narayan Mishra, the judge of the fast track court, was rejected.

A non-bailable arrest warrant had been issued by the Jamtara court against Soren in connection with the 1975 Chirrudih massacre case.
