A comp in Pakistan reveals plans to attack US, UK Monday, August 2 2004 17:39 Hrs (IST)
Islamabad:
A computer that was seized during a raid by Pakistani authorities has revealed plans of new attacks on US and UK, according to sources.
The al-Qaida operative was wanted in the case of 1998 twin US embassy bombings in East Africa, the sources said.
The computer contained detailed plans in the e-mails of Ahmed khan Ghailani, a Tanzanian national arrested on Sunday (July 25, 2004).
The information is believed to have been given to US officials.
A Minister in the Pakistani Government has confirmed that Ghailani was sharing "vital" information, but he refused to comment further.
" He has given us vital information, but we cannot share specifics," he is believed to have said. Another official on condition of anonymity said, the information about attack on America appeared to be "centred" on New York.
