NDA (National Democratic Alliance) agrees to end the boycott of Parliamentary committees.
Announcing the decision, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani told reporters after a meeting of the NDA constituents today (August 3, 2004) that the agreement to end the stalemate was arrived at a meeting he had with Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee followed by his consultations with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in which his ministerial colleagues including Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee was also present.
The modalities of the "withdrawal" of the controversial statements made by Mukherjee and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader V K Malhotra will be gone through in the house when the Lok Sabha resumes the remaining part of the budget session on August 16, Advani said.
He said Malhotra and another party leader Sushma Swaraj will discuss the formalities with Parliamentary Affairs minister Ghulam Nabi Azad tomorrow.
