Militants attack CRPF camp in JK, gunbattle rages Wednesday, August 4 2004 22:36 Hrs (IST)

Militants tonight (Aug 4, 2004) attacked a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) camp in a posh locality in Srinagar hurling a grenade, triggering a gunbattle but there was no immediate report of loss of life, official sources said.
The ultras lobbed the grenade on the 50th battalion of CRPF camp near a convent school at 20:50 hours IST, setting off a gunbattle with the CRPF personnel.
Intermittent exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants was on till late into the night, said the sources.
Al-Medina and al-Mansoorian outfits, shadows of Lashkar-e-Toiba group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
