Stamp scam: Court rejects Telgi's brother's bail plea
Wednesday, August 4 2004 22:11 Hrs (IST)

Pune: A Special court today (Aug 4, 2004) rejected the bail application of Abdul Azim Telgi, the brother of the prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi in Pune.

The accused had filed the bail application saying that he was innocent and hence he should be released on bail.

His arguments were however opposed by the Special Prosecutor of CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) saying that there was enough evidence to show his involvement in the scam.

The CBI said the accused had played an important role in recruiting some youths from Khanapur into the fake stamp paper racket.
