'UPA hatching conspiracies to destabilise BJP Govts' Friday, August 6 2004 20:00 Hrs (IST)
Kolkata:
The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Aug 6, 2004) charged the Left supported UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government of 'hatching conspiracies to create political instability in BJP-ruled States' like Gujarat to pave the way for imposition of President's rule and warned that the party would launch a countrywide movement in case its State Governments were destabilised.
''The Left supported UPA Government is making attempts for some time to create political instability in BJP-ruled States by encouraging defection. Conspiracies have been hatched to dislodge the BJP-ruled State Governments,'' BJP vice-president Sushil Modi told a press conference in Kolkata.
He alleged that Congress leader Margaret Alva was camping in Goa when attempts were made to destabilise the BJP-led Government there.
"Efforts are also being made to dislodge the Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat. Railway Minister Laloo Prasad has announced a railway departmental inquiry into the Godhra incident to secure a favourable report so that Narendra Modi Government could be dismissed to pave the way for imposition of President's rule in that State," Modi charged.
The BJP leader argued that no other probe could be ordered when an inquiry was already underway into Godhra incident.
Laloo Prasad, he alleged, was trying to send a message that kar sevaks were responsible for the fire in the coach number six of the Sabarmari Express and said that the 'railway departmental inquiry was ordered also to protect those anti-socials responsible for the incident'.
