No ceasefire violation on Line of Control: Army
Friday, August 6 2004 22:25 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Army tonight (Aug 6, 2004) said the ceasefire on Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir was holding.

There were minor aberrations but overall there has been no deliberate attempt from either side to breach the ceasefire, which had been imposed since November last year, an Army spokesman said.

The spokesman was reacting to media reports that there had been ceasefire violation on Wednesday night (Aug 4, 2004) in Handwara sector in North Kashmir. He said this sector was deep inside the Indian territory and there was no question of violation of ceasefire there.
