AIDS Crisis in India:

India has seen a sharp increase in the number of HIV/AIDS infections over the last decade. From a few thousand cases in early 1990s the number has gone up to about 4.5 Million children and adults living with the HIV/AIDS virus, second only to South Africa with 5 Million HIV cases. By 2010 the World Health Organisation predicts 20 to 25 million AIDS cases in India, more than any other country in the world.

India is the second most populous country in the world with about one billion people. With a large population, high poverty levels, low literacy rates and consequently low levels of awareness, HIV/AIDS has become one of the most challenging public health problems for the country.

The UN Population Division projects that India's adult HIV prevalence will peak at 1.9% in 2019. The UN estimates that there were 2.7 million AIDS deaths in India between 1980 and 2000. During 2000-15, the UN projects 12.3 million AIDS deaths and 49.5 million deaths during 2015-50.

The Global Fund:

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most devastating diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need. As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities, the Global Fund represents an innovative approach to international health financing.

UCLA AIDS Institute:

Through research and patient care, the UCLA AIDS Institute seeks to eliminate HIV and AIDS. The Institute is a one-stop think tank for collaborating scientists who translate research breakthroughs into improved treatment.

Efforts toward the development of a safe and effective HIV vaccine are among the UCLA AIDS Institute's highest priorities. The Institute's discoveries contribute not only to the well-being of its own patients, but to those affected throughout the world.

One Night Foundation:

The mission of the One Night Foundation is to promote healthcare improvements in India through direct funding and increased awareness - within India and globally - of India's severe healthcare problems.

"One Night for India" is founded by HollyBolly Productions in cooperation with "The One Night Foundation". Executive producers and event founders are Mark Porter and David Grohol. This event is being co-produced by Clear Channel Entertainment unit MBBExpo.
