Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, was today (Aug 10, 2004) arrested by CBI (Central Bureau Of Investigation) in a fresh case of stamp seizure and produced before the
court in Thane.
CBI today arrested Telgi in a new case pertaining to seizure of fake stamp in Meera Road in 1999.
CBI pushed for Telgi's custody saying they needed his custodial interrogation to unearth the racket. Telgi was produced before JMFC (Judicial Magistrate First Class), Jaiswal.
Hearing CBI's plea, special Judge S M Shembole presiding over the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control Of Organised Crime Act) court in Pune had yesterday (Aug 9, 2004) directed jailor of Yerawada prison to produce Telgi in Thane court in the case pertaining to seizure of fake stamps in Meera Road.
