Lucknow: The six premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) could hike their fees from the next academic session keeping in view of the growing inflation.

The suggestions on the fee structure made during the two-day long deliberations of the Directors of the six IIMs will be discussed by the respective faculty members and the Boards and a final decision would emerge only after the next meeting of all the IIMs slated in December at Indore, the Director of IIM, Ahmedabad, Bakul Dholakia told reporters in Lucknow after the conclusion of the meeting.

Without divulging the details, Dholakia indicated that any fee hike, if necessary, would be marginal. He, however, ruled out uniformity in the fee structure saying that it was not possible.

The aim of the two-day meet was to rationalise the fee structure and ensure that there should not be vast difference in the fees of the different institutes, he said.

The meeting, which was held ostensibly to close ranks and project a united face after the storm kicked off by previous HRD (Human Resources Development) Minister M M Joshi's decision to drastically cut down the fees, resolved that frequent interaction was necessary to evolve a common ground and principle to deal with problems.

The meeting also expressed satisfaction over preparation for the Common Admission Test (CAT) and resolved to make special arrangements to check paper leakage.
