Former Gujarat CM Amarsinh Chaudhary passes away

Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Amarsinh Chaudhary died in Ahmedabad today (Aug 15, 2004) after a prolonged illness at the age of 64, chief whip of Congress Legislature Party Arjun Modvadia told.

Chaudhary, had been suffering from kidney-related complications due to high diabetes at the SAL hospital since last one month.

Chaudhary was the Chief Minister of Gujarat for five years from 1985 to 1989.

His body will be taken to his bungalow in Gandhinagar where large number of Congress leaders, ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) members, including, Chief Minister Narendra Modi would pay their last respects.
